Gooseberries are not raised commercially so any fresh ones found in the market are probably raised by local growers. Depending on soil and growing conditions, they may be rich in trace minerals such as copper, needed for the development of bones, brain, nerves and connective tissue, and chromium, important in the body’s proper utilization of sugar. These berries also supply a good amount of vitamins A and C, both beneficial to normal vision and aids against infections.
