Mullets make up a worldwide family of fish, mostly ocean fish, but with some freshwater varieties included. They are an excellent source of protein, needed for growth, for formation of muscles, for proper liver function, for burning fat (dieters note), and for production of hormones, antibodies, white blood cells, and energy producing enzymes. This protein also aids against anemia, low blood sugar, blood pressure problems, water retention, ulcers, flabby muscles, and breaking hair and fingernails. In addition, the ocean varieties can provide trace minerals, such as iodine for proper formation and function of the thyroid gland.
