The cola nut, from which cola drinks are made, is fairly rich in caffeine and therefore can have the same effects upon the body as coffee. Other than caffeine, colas have little to offer beside calories and carbohydrates, not elements lacking in most Americans’ diets. The cola drinks made with sugar and phosphoric acid are very bad for the teeth; those made with sugar substitutes can be harmful in other ways.
