A close relative to dimestore goldfish, although rather more substantial, freshwater carp, like most fish, contains no carbohydrates, few calories, and little fat. It is an excellent source of protein, which is necessary for the growth and maintenance of all part, of the body, as well as in combatting such diverse problems as low blood sugar and splitting fingernails. When properly prepared it can be a delicious addition to any diet. This freshwater fish is good hot or cold, baked, stuffed, or braised.
