Steamed crabs are low in calories and fats and high in protein and vitamin A, which aids against dandruff peeling fingernails, eye problems, infections, and skin problems such as acne and dryness. Crab also contains a considerable amount of iodine, necessary for maintenance of the thyroid gland and for energy, and sulphur, which is necessary to health of the skin, hair, and nails. However, crab is extremely high in cholesterol, so it should be held to a minimum by those with atherosclerosis, heart problems, or anyone concerned about cholesterol levels.
