In illness, the main aim should be to try and restore and to build up the body’s powers of digestion and absorption by means of REST. This could (and sometimes does) include rest from solid food, for only rest of the whole organism can restore and conserve vital energy. (Digestion of food uses up a lot of energy.)

It is, therefore, as important to know when not to eat as to know what, and how much, to eat. Abstinence from food is wholly natural in illness — an occasional day of complete rest, including rest from solid food, is very beneficial to both body and mind. It is important, too, to sleep with your head to the north, so turn your bed so that its head and foot lie in a line running from magnetic north to south or vice-versa). Sleeping in this position will help to recharge your inner batteries.

Following a day or two of complete rest on juices only, institute a feeding program based on the lines which will be suggested in this website. Having read this program, there will he no doubt in your mind as to which are the best to eat, but you may be a bit uncertain as to how much of each class of food you need. There should be no hard-and-fast rules about this, because everyone’s individual needs are different, and what may be right amounts for you may be too little or too much for someone else. One person’s capacity to absorb and to utilize the various food-ingredients is quite different from another’s; consequently, you need different amounts for each. No one should feed according to arbitrary standards, based on the assumption that we all need the same daily amounts of each chins of food. We don’t, though usually our vitamin and requirements are similar.

The amounts suggested in this website are based on the normal healthy requirements of the average individual, and are meant only as a general guide. Only you yourself can find out your own particular requirement of each class of food. This will vary according to what kind of work you do, what age you are, what size you are, what your energy output is and, above all, what your powers of digestion and absorption are. You need more than other people of the body-building foods (proteins) if you are a teenager, or a pregnant or nursing mother; even so, far more ill-health is caused by over-eating than by under-eating, and smaller amounts of the right foods are of greater value and are more easily absorbed than larger amounts of the wrong foods.

Usually in illness, or when the body is debilitated, the body-cells are too weak to be able to extract the minerals brought to them by the bloodstream. This is when biochemic remedies are so valuable. Biochemic remedies are composed of minerals in a very finely ground state which are more easily assimilated by the cells than the coarser particles in food. They supply the body’s mineral deficiencies, and until these deficiencies are supplied, the body cannot get well. Or keep well.
