Right eating

Good health is created by right eating. Health can be sustained only by supplying the body with the right foods in the right amounts and combining them with due regard to their compatibility; by taking daily outdoor exercise; by getting sufficient sleep and relaxation of body and of mind; and last, but not least, by avoiding harmful mental and emotional states caused by worry, frustration, fear, hate, resentment, jealousy and so on.

There are two types of food:

1.The Alkaline-forming.
2.The acid-forming.

Alkaline-forming foods include all vegetables, salads, tomatoes (uncooked), and fruit.
Acid-forming foods include flesh foods, eggs, cheese, nuts (except almonds), cereals (except millet) and all forms of sugar (except honey).

In order to keep an alkaline balance of the blood, we should eat more of the alkaline-forming foods than of the acid forming foods.
We should also learn to distinguish between compatible foods and incompatible foods, eating the latter at different meals. This is because, if they are eaten together, a toxic substance, known as histamine, is produced in the blood as the result of incomplete digestion of protein foods.

Histamine in the blood causes allergic complaints such as hay-fever, and asthma, migraine headaches, and general malaise.
The amount of histamine produced is considerably less when incompatible foods are eaten at different meals. Many people have found that, simply by avoiding wrong combinations of foods, they have lost their symptoms of ill-health, without recourse to any medical treatment whatsoever .

The following foods are incompatible when eaten together :
1.Protein foods with starches, sugars, and animal fats (butter, cream, etc.).
2.Starches and sugars with acid fruits (with sweet fruits such as dates, bananas, figs, raisins, sweet pears, etc., they are compatible).

Root vegetables do not get on too well with acid fruits. Milk, which is Nature’s masterpiece, is compatible with most things, but is more beneficial if taken by itself. This because, if it is taken with starch foods, most of it valuable calcium changes chemically, and becomes unavailable, as calcium, to the body.

Acid fruits are best eaten before a meal — never at the end — and only one kind at a time should be eaten. They are best eaten by themselves, not with other food.

By keeping an alkaline balance of the blood, you escape acidosis which produces rheumatism, duodenal ulcer, blood-pressure, kidney diseases, loss of appetite, lassitude, head-aches, sleeplessness, etc. You also derive more benefit from the vitamins in your food, because vitamins can do their job better in an alkaline medium than in an acid one. This means that smaller amounts of them are needed and that these do you more good than larger amounts taken in an acid medium.
