A freshwater fish that may grow to four feet in length, pike fish is low in calories and fats and rich in complete protein, needed for development and maintenance of all bodily tissues and for the hormones, hemoglobin, antibodies, and enzymes necessary for health. Protein is especially beneficial for dieters, and the normal protein requirements must be increased during many illnesses, during pregnancy, and while breast- feeding.
